Are you ready for an #EcoTravel ?

Hello dear readers!

Vacations, the time of the year in which we all get to unwind and relax and enjoy...Wait! Aren't we all forgetting something? Global Warming is a rising crisis, the main factor of which is...us! If we don't start working towards helping the environment, I'm afraid it'll be too late to just 'enjoy vacations'! As in, there would be no vacations if there were no humans, right? So, here I am, sharing a few of my tips to make this vacation memorable as well as environment friendly!

1) Pack light: This point is most overlooked while talking about sustainable travel. While flying on an airplane, the lighter you pack & the lesser bags you carry, the more pollution you reduce. While flying, every kilo counts. The lesser the weight, the lesser carbon emissions are released! So instead of that heavy separate bag, how about using a cardboard box, or even better, shifting all of the important items into one bag ! (BONUS: You don't have to pay extra for that extra luggage!)

2)Pack sustainable: It's not just about how much you pack, it is also about what you pack! Pack reusable items. Avoid single-use plastic items that don't decompose and eventually end up in our oceans. Think about it:if you use 1 plastic bottle per day, you will use 365 plastic bottles per year! Start with a reusable plastic bottle and save on average 165 plastic bottles per year ! Saying no to single use plastic might raise some eyebrows, but it is an important step in helping Mother Earth.

3)Reuse towels: Many of us travel foreign to explore different countries. We usually stay in hotels. Acknowledge the small cue card they put up, i.e., the one to reduce towels. Everyday, millions of gallons of water are used to wash towels that have been used just once! Save water, save life! Reuse the towels until it is entirely necessary to wash them.

4)Walk!: The most traditional way of Eco-travel is not using public transport. Think about it: You individually reduce your carbon footprint! Every step counts. If walking is not an option, how about renting a cycle and cycling? This way you'll also take a closer look at your environment. It would also be a method of exercise, and you can reduce your weight while having fun!

I'm sure there is plenty more, but these are a few tips my family and I follow while traveling.

Do you follow any of these? Start from today!
