Travelling helps us to explore new places, meet new people and get to know their culture and heritage. However, it need not be environmentally destructive. Tourists have the power to make things better and ecofriendly. They can demand more from the places they stay and visit. Also, ensure to do small things to preserve the beauty of the city and environment.

1. Reduce your carbon footprints

Try as maximum to avoid the carbon emissions from transportation, hotel accommodations and other activities. Use car pool or walk or bike to venture and explore the city.

2. Switch off

Ensure to turn off the A/C, lights and T.V before leaving your hotel room.

3. Say no to bottled water

Always carry a refillable/reusable steel or metal water bottle instead of using single-use plastic water bottles.

4. Reusable shopping bags

Carry a jute/cotton bag for shopping instead of plastic bags as it takes more than 500 years to degrade.

5. Pack your bag smart

Pack only the required items as the more each passenger carries in a flight, it results in more carbon emissions.

6. Search out ecotourism providers

Look out for a provider who is green and offers eco-lodges, local produce, sell local artisan crafts.

7. Reduce your water consumption

Take a quick shower and avoid using pools

8. Carry your own utensils and travel kit

Pack a spoon, fork to avoid using single-use plastics.

9. Enjoy and support

While enjoying the beaches, help a hand in the cleanup or if you are a good diver, join in ocean cleanup activity.

10.Avoid environment damaging activities

Reducing carbon footprints

We opted to walk and run around interesting places in Wayanad (Kerala, India) during our last vacation.
