Summer is on and so are the vacations. Now would be the perfect time to pack up a leave for a relaxed vacation. Yes readers, it is our summer vacation in the UAE aka. the travel months. Most of my friends in the UAE have already begun their travel to their hometown or a tourist location. Hope they are having a great time
Travelling or tourism contributes to one – tenth of the world’s carbon emissions. Thus, by Eco-travelling, a major source of pollution is checked.
Apart from carbon emissions emitted by planes, wastepaper and plastic in the form of disposable items, is a major contributor to the ecological footprint emitted by TRAVEL.
Some tips to counter these are
1. Using reusable bags while travel shopping: After shopping before travelling and paying at the cashier, all our goods are packed in polythene bags without count. Polythene is the major source of plastic waste. Carrying jute bags and cloth bags are a great substitute to them.
2. Carry your own reusable bottles: Buying bottled water is a common part of travelling. But these are harmful ecologically, biologically and economically. Using reusable bottles reduces plastic waste, prevents the consumption of micro-plastics suspended in bottled water and saves money. It is easy to find a Drinking water source or cooler in airports.
3. Use hard durable luggage bags and thus avoid the use of plastic wrapping: Airports provide the facility of plastic wrapping your luggage, since some carry their necessary items of travel in cardboard cartons. Again, using durable luggage bags are both economical and eco-friendly.
4. Carry your reusable napkins: Again, buying tissues while travelling is an essential-of-sorts. It contributes to a great source of paper waste. Buying and carrying a few cloth napkins is an ecological and economical substitute.
Thus following such simple measures ensures not only a comfortable travel, but also helps us contribute to the prevention of pollution. Wishing you all an exciting vacation and a happy journey!
